The Pharmacy Technician Program at Tri-Rivers Career Center is set to begin July 28, 2008. This program gives students the opportunity to begin a career in the high demand field of pharmacy, without the big college expense.
A Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a pharmacist and performs pharmacy related functions. The pharmacy technician often do routine tasks associated with preparing prescribed medications and providing drug to patients, along with general customer service and check-out procedures.
This program is a one-year course of study that focuses on the competentcies needed to be a successful professional in the field of pharmacy. Upon completion of the program, you will be able to demonstrate ethical conduct in all duties performed, interpret physician orders and prescriptions, perform pharmaceutical calculations, define medical & pharmaceutical terms, understand the laws that govern pharmacy, as well as other key components of a competent professional.
The Pharmacy Technician program is a 600 hour program that includes both onsite and online classes, as well as a pharmacy internship. Each student will be qualified to take the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) examination upon completion of the program.
