Sunday Morning Fire Destroys Home in Holmes Township

An early Sunday morning fire destroyed a home in Holmes-Township. There were no injuries.

The home’s residents at 2691 Spore-Brandywine Road had no phone and escaped the home through a window according to Ken Kocher of the Holmes Township Fire Department. The residents were able to flag down a passing motorist who called for help sometime around 5:30 that morning. Holmes Fire Chief Steve Kalb said Lohr was the lastname of those living there.

Officials had not determined the cause of the fire, but did note the presence of a woodburner in the house. Kocher said the house was a total loss.

In addition to Holmes Township, firefighters from Bucyrus Township, Whetstone, Chatfield, Dallas and Lykens helped battle the blaze.
